Portland residents should prepare for a week of persistent showers and potential thunderstorms ahead, as the National Weather Service (NWS) forecasts unsettled weather conditions to dominate the region. The NWS's Portland office has reported that starting from later today, there's an 80% chance of precipitation, which could bring rainfall amounts ranging between a quarter and half an inch.According to the latest update from the NWS, the weather is set to take a turn around 2 p.

m., with possible severe thunderstorms expected later in the afternoon. Today, "A chance of showers and thunderstorms between 2pm and 4pm, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 4pm.



Some of the storms could be severe," the NWS cautions. Residents are advised to take appropriate precautions as high winds, with gusts as high as 24 mph, could accompany the storms.In the evening, the chances of rainfall persist at 80%, with thunderstorms likely before 10 p.

m. and then a likely transition to showers. Temperatures are anticipated to drop to a low of around 47 degrees.

The yesterday planted the seeds of an aquatic week – leading into a stormy Thursday forecast to be saturated with showers and a steady breeze, guaranteeing 100% precipitation and new rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, the NWS states.Friday will offer no reprieve, with showers continuing under gusty conditions and precipitation probabilities holding strong at 100%. The wet theme runs through the weekend, with showers likely until Saturday night.

However, a brief respite might appear on Saturday night with partly cloudy skies before the clouds regather and showers increase once again on Sunday.Looking into next week, the same pattern holds true with showers forecasted to persist through Tuesday. Cooler temperatures will also set in, with highs hovering in the mid-50s.
