A POPULAR Scots tourist attraction has majorly slashed their ticket prices to counter the current cost of living crisis. The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) have introduced Universal Credit discounts to Edinburgh Zoo and Highland Wildlife Park . The wildlife conservation charity launched the offer this summer , in the hope it would enable more visitors to experience the benefits of being closer to nature . After a successful summer , the offer - which was set to expire today - has been extended on a permanent basis.

The offer is available to anyone currently receiving income-related employment and support allowance (ESA), income-based jobseeker's allowance (JSA), housing benefit, working tax credit, child tax credit and income support. A survey of visitors found that 65% of customers would not have visited Edinburgh Zoo this summer without the offer, and 56% would not have visited Highland Wildlife Park.

Universal credit tickets are available to six people per household. Proof of receipt of one of the benefits listed must be shown upon entry. To qualify, visitors must have received a payment in the last month, and may require photo ID.
