Poppy husk case: Wanted drug dealer held

Ludhiana: The Ludhiana rural police has arrested a drug peddler who was “wanted” in 900 kg poppy husk smuggling case, and recovered 20 kilograms of poppy husk and ₹2.15 lakh drug money from him. The arrested accused has been identified as Baljeet Singh Meeta of Jhuner village.

DSP Dakha Varinder Singh Khosa said that during a special campaign, the police arrested Baljeet Singh on Nov 3. He added that on the disclosures by the accused, police has recovered more poppy husk and drug money. The police officer said that on June 6 this year, Jodhan police station had registered a drug peddling case against Avtar Singh Resham of Latala village and Balbir Singh Meeta of Jhuner village.
