The Ondo State Police Command has said drones will be used to monitor the state’s governorship election taking place today (Saturday). In a statement on its X handle on Saturday morning, the Command said drones would be flying around the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office and also some polling units. It urged the public not to be afraid if they see drones flying around.

“If you see a drone flying around INEC Office and some of the polling units, don’t get scared, the drones are Police Drones for election monitoring. Thanks.” the command wrote.



INEC as well as security agencies have perfected preparations for the election as eligible voters in the state are eager to determine the fate of the 18 candidates contesting for the position, The Guardian reports. Notably among the contestants are the incumbent governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), both of whom were are at different times the deputy to the late former governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu. Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu has urged all stakeholders and the electorate in the election to uphold peace and decorum as they carry out their civic responsibilities without fear before or after the exercise.
