1 2 Prayagraj: The Pratpagrah Police on Tuesday claimed to have cracked six-year-old Kandhai rape and murder case by arresting three primary suspects. The authorities arrested Anil Kumar Tiwari , Rakesh Kumar Saroj and Sheetla Prasad Saroj, all residents of Kohdaur and Kandhai areas. SHO (Kandhai) Awan Kumar Dixit told TOI that a woman was raped and killed in Barha village on Aug 17, 2019.
The case was registered on May 16, 2023, under various IPC sections including 419, 420, 406, 328, 325, 302, 376D, and 34, along with section 3(2)5 of the SC/ST Act against three identified individuals. The SHO said Anil Tiwari, the primary accused who knew the deceased woman, fraudulently obtained her money and property. Following the death of her husband (a cook in army) in 2009, the woman received substantial funds and pension.
The woman being illiterate relied thoroughly on Tiwari who gained confidence and accessed her bank account. Reports indicate that Tiwari, who operates a medical store, administered an incorrect injection to the woman, rendering her unconscious, and facilitated the sale of her land to a relative of another accused. Upon discovering the fraud by Tiwari and his associates, the woman demanded her money back and sought help from authorities.
Tiwari lured her to a field, promising to return the money, where he and his accomplices allegedly raped and murdered her. Senior police officials are examining the conduct of officers stationed at Kandhai police station between 2019 and 2023..
