Police sergeant arrested in Fresno for attempted lewd acts with a minor, police said

The investigation began in Roseville, police said.

Fresno police arrested one of the department’s own sergeants on Wednesday after he was accused of attempting lewd acts on a child. Sgt. Paige McQuay, 56, was placed in custody in Fresno after Roseville Police Department said he was the subject of a sex crimes investigation, according to a news release.

He was accused of attempted lewd acts with a minor and contacting a minor in an attempt to commit an offense, police said in a news release. McQuay has worked with Fresno Police Department since 1993, according to the department. He was placed on paid leave as the investigation is ongoing, police said.



“This criminal investigation was initiated and conducted by the Roseville Police Department and the Fresno Police Department is cooperating fully with them,” police said in a news release..
