Police: Scranton man stole, sold items in Midvalley area

A Scranton man faces charges after police said he stole items valued at approximately $7,000 from vehicles in Archbald and sold some of them to a local retailer. Police responded to the 800 block of Oak Street at 8:11 a.m.

Wednesday for the report of a theft in the middle of the night, according to a criminal complaint. The victim told officers someone rummaged through three of his vehicles and that he had video of a tall, slender man standing by his garage door, police said. A limited edition Gucci purse and wallet were taken from one vehicle and a Louis Vuitton purse was stolen from another, according to the criminal complaint.

On Saturday, a neighbor informed the victim that similar wallets were being advertised for sale at a retail location in Dickson City, officers said. On Sunday, around 1:30 p.

m., officers responded to the retail establishment as workers told police the same man was attempting to sell additional merchandise, according to the criminal complaint. While detained, Corbitt provided officers with a full statement regarding the thefts from Oak Street, police said.

Police charged Corbitt, 21, with receiving stolen property, theft by deception, and theft from a motor vehicle. As of Tuesday, Corbitt remained at Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $30,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 8 at 11 a.
