Bingen-White Salmon Police, Aug. 26 - Sept. 8 The following are crimes which resulted in arrests: warrant (one).

Notable incidents A hit-and-run logged in White Salmon. An adult driver was cited for property damage. Four animal calls.



Animal noise, White Salmon dog returned to owner, unable to locate animal. On Aug. 30, officers were unable to locate a bear reported in White Salmon, and notified Fish and Wildlife.

An adult was arrested on a warrant during a trespassing incident in White Salmon. Two unfounded Hazmat calls in White Salmon, Aug. 30 and 31.

Separately, a Hazmat incident in White Salmon Sept. 6 found a gas leak. The gas company handled it.

Two unfounded reports of non-injury vehicle crashes, both Aug. 31. Two non-injury vehicle crashes.

One in Bingen on Sept. 1, another in White Salmon on private property on Sept. 3.

Fraud was reported in White Salmon Sept. 6. Hood River Police, Sept.

1 - 7 The following are crimes which resulted in arrests: Assault (one), disorderly conduct (two), DUII (three), drug law violation (seven), misrepresentation of age by a minor (one), reckless driving (one), theft (two), warrant (four). Notable incidents Four theft reports. Shoplifting (two incidents), cellphone stolen from grocery store and items taken from vehicle.

Four warrant arrests. In one incident, a The Dalles resident was lodged at NORCOR on three outstanding warrants from Wasco and Hood River counties. In the same incident, a Goldendale resident was arrested on the charge of theft of lost, mislaid property.

Three DUII arrests. In one incident, a Vancouver, Washington resident was arrested and lodged at NORCOR on charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance (schedule II), delivery of a controlled substance (schedule II), possession of methamphetamine and delivery of methamphetamine. Also in the same incident, a Longview, Washington resident was arrested and lodged at NORCOR on charges of possession of a controlled substance (schedule II) and possession of methamphetamine.

Three hit-and-run reports. Locations include the parking lots of Safeway and Rosauer’s and Thirteenth Street/Taylor Avenue. Officers responded to a report of an adult male making inappropriate comments towards younger females.

An investigation into the death of an elderly person at an assisted living facility was logged. A counterfeit $100 bill was reportedly passed at the Hood River County tax office. A possible scam reported.

The Dalles Police, Sept. 6 - 13 The following are crimes which resulted in arrests: disorderly conduct (one), improper use of 911 (one), local control hold (one), mischief (one), no contact order violation (one), possession of fentanyl (one), probation violation (one), theft (two), trespass (one), warrant (one). Notable incidents 23 animal calls, including 1 welfare checks on pets in hot cars.

Dogs at large, OSP request for assistance transporting dogs from an incident at Memaloose Rest Area, 10-week-old kitten found in parking lot on Nineteenth, dog welfare check, dogs barking, dogs hit by cars, missing dogs, goat at large on Twenty-First Street. Two deer hit by cars; one was okay, the other broken-legged deer was dispatched. Seven theft reports.

Shoplifting, flashlight, battery from a trailer on Sixth, rear license plate from vehicle on Pomona St, street signs from Thirteenth and Riverview, items from Seventh-Street storage unit. In one incident, a suspect was cited on charge of shoplifting about $93 from a Sixth-Street store. Two separate thefts of Harris campaign signs from front yards on Twelfth and Wright were logged for info.

A burglary report. A burglary alarm on Cherry Heights Road went off at about 2:53 Sept. 7.

Video confirmed that a white male, face covered in a dark handkerchief, smashed windows and broke in. They loaded boxes of cigarettes into a trash can, then left with the bag. A baggy of possible meth was found on Tenth and Court streets and collected for destruction.

19 mental health calls. An officer couldn’t revive a deer found in I-84’s fast lane, but moved it off the road. An unattended death.

Twice, the same person was cited publicly urinating on a Court Street sidewalk planter. A person was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and trespass after allegedly screaming and yelling about a 9mm handgun while atop a silver sedan in a Mt. Hood Street parking lot.

A stolen vehicle report. A maroon Honda was taken from River Trail Way/River Road Sept. 9.

A vehicle crash report. A GMC truck T-boned a pickup, blocking the Second and Union intersection, on Sept. 10.

The pickup was towed. The GMC driver was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device. A Tenth-Street transformer blew and set the grass on fire Sept.

12. Mid-Columbia Fire and Rescue responded to defend several nearby residences. Smoke was reported from a shed near a house, and a field.

PUD was advised. Mid-Columbia Fire and Rescue responded to a teenage person overdosing on unknown drugs on Union Street Sept. 12.

A bank teller on Washington Street reported a customer attempting to cash a fraudulent check for over $2,000. The business check was from an Italian restaurant in Portland; the teller called the business, which said it had been stolen. The suspect was issued a criminal citation for negotiating a bad check.

An officer responded to a report of blood pooled on East Scenic Drive/Sixteenth Place, and found the blood “appeared to be associated with a deceased squirrel.” Wasco County Sheriff, Sept. 6 - 10 Notable incidents Deputies conducted 27 vehicle stops.

Six dogs and two other animals logged. Unauthorized use of motor vehicle was logged on Highway 30. An assault logged on Webber Street.

An alleged gunshot logged from Smock Road. A vehicle crash logged from Wamic Market Road. A pursuit logged on Highway 30.

Two warrants logged on East Nineteenth, Washington. A vehicle fire on Thompson Street Sept. 10.

Oregon State Police, Sept. 7 - 12 The following are crimes which resulted in arrests: DUII (two), warrant (one). Notable incidents A trooper responded to a report of someone shooting at geese at a Cascade Locks location, closed to hunting.

The trooper found two dead geese and checked them into evidence, and got info on the suspect. Investigation is ongoing. Two angling citations.

A trooper responded to a call of anglers fishing in a closed area on Sept. 7. The anglers, unaware of the closure, had caught four Coho salmon.

One was cited and all salmon were seized for donation to Salvation Army. Separately, an angler at Hood River Marina was cited for tagging their second Chinook salmon with a Washington harvest card, after filling their Oregon harvest card earlier that day. They got a criminal citation and rod and salmon were seized.

A non-injury crash. A red Ford F250 hit an ODOT sign on the shoulder of Highway 197, milepost 60 northbound. The Ford over-corrected and crossed both lanes of traffic, going through a BLM fence and down to the canyon bottom.

The driver lost their phone in the crash, and couldn’t call until the next day after getting picked up by a commercial truck driver. A trooper picked the driver up from Madras, took them back to the crash scene, and cited and released them for careless driving. The Ford was towed.

Two DUII arrests. In one incident, a white Toyota was stopped for driving 101 mph in a 70 mph speed zone. After an investigation, the driver was arrested on charge of driving under the influence of alcohol and gave a breath test of 0.

18%. Another driver, stopped for erratic driving on I-84, reported partying with friends in Idaho, gave a breath test of 0.20%, and was cited and released on the same charge.

Troopers helped Intertribal Police remove an illegal net from the water near Cascade Locks. One sturgeon and one salmon were released alive from the net, which Intertribe seized. A Northern Wasco County PUD truck was coming up Tygh Grade on Sept.

10 when something in the engine broke loose or blew up. The driver lost steering and brakes, and skidded to the shoulder. Moments later the engine caught fire, and flames engulfed the truck.

The lack of wind kept the fire out of the grass and the smoke out of the highway. WCSO and OSP responded for traffic control, and volunteers from Wamic and Dufur fire departments extinguished the blaze. A hit and run.

While an ODOT truck worked a street sweeper operation on the shoulder of I-84, another vehicle struck it, then continued on. The ODOT truck was drivable..
