Police on toes in wake of threats by Pannun

Times News Network Ludhiana: In the wake of threats by leader of the banned, Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) and designated terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun , Ludhiana police organised " Operation Satark " on Saturday. Pannun threatened explosions and offensive slogans to be pasted on public walls to disrupt Ambedkar Jayanti celebrations . The operation was led by additional director general of police (ADGP, Traffic) A S Rai on Friday night.

He was accompanied by police commissioner Swapan Sharma. ADGP Rai inspected a checkpoint at the railway station and oversaw checking of private vehicles. He said that entrance and exit points of the city had been sealed and no vehicle had been allowed to pass without rigorous inspection.



He also said that round-the-clock surveillance was being done and patrolling intensified. Police commissioner Swapan Sharma said that the operation involved 12 strategically placed high-tech nakas, each supervised by a gazetted officer, with a total of 240 personnel deployed from 10pm to 4am to ensure comprehensive coverage and vigilance across the city.
