Police officer arrested for harassment and stalking a woman

A police officer was arrested on Wednesday in connection with a case of stalking and physically harming a woman in Nicosia. The 48-year-old woman reported the officer was threatening her on Tuesday, attacked her and then physically harmed her. She added that he was also stalking her.

She reported the police officer, for offences involving interference with judicial proceedings. An investigation was launched by the Nicosia police department, as soon as the report was filed by the woman. “The police are responsible for safeguarding citizens and such actions are not consistent with the values, principles and standards that we adopt and seek to implement in our organisation,” the police said on Wednesday.
