Police nab 4 accused in liquor vend robbery case

Ludhiana: Less than a week after four accused armed with sharp-edged weapons and iron rods had attacked an employee of a liquor vend and robbed him of a cash bag and mobile phone in Khanna, police on Monday arrested all of them. The arrested accused have been identified as Gurdeep Singh and Duphis, both from Ajnali village, Sunil Kumar from Moti Bakery Street of the same area, and Roop Chand from Guru Ki Nagri, all areas fall under Mandi Gobindgarh. Giving details on Monday, SSP Khanna Dr Jyoti Yadav stated that a special campaign was launched by the Khanna police to arrest anti-social elements .

She added that during the campaign, SHO Tarvinder Kumar and a police party from Khanna City police station arrested the four accused with weapons in connection with the robbery case involving a liquor vend employee. According to the information, on April 9 Mahinder Singh of New Abadi area in Khanna, who works at a liquor shop in Ambemajra village of Mandi Gobindgarh, closed the shop at 2am and left for home on his motorcycle carrying Rs 38,000 cash in a bag. It was reported that when he reached near the old bus stand, GT Road, Khanna, five individuals on two motorcycles started following him.



As he neared his house, they blocked his way. The police report suggested that these individuals were armed with iron rods and sharp weapons, and one attacker hit him twice with an iron rod, injuring him. They then robbed him of his bag containing Rs 38,000 and a mobile phone before fleeing.

The police registered a case against the accused on April 11 and arrested them. Police stated that they had recovered an iron rod, a sword, one motorcycle without number plate, and the complainant's mobile phone from their possession..
