KUCHING (Sept 8): A total of 58 illegal immigrants were apprehended during an integrated operations conducted in Sri Aman from Sept 6 to 7, said Sri Aman police chief DSP Mathew Manggie. In a statement, he said the operation, conducted from 10pm to 2am, resulted in the arrest of 47 men and 11 women.

The operation was led by Sri Aman district police headquarters, in collaboration with the General Operations Force (PGA) Battalion 10, C Company; Sri Aman Immigration Department and Sri Aman National Registration Department, he added. “The raid was conducted at three oil palm plantation’s workers’ quarters in Sri Aman district – Tabaruk Abadi Estate Sri Aman, Salcra Pakit/Undop, and Sarawak Plantation Melugu/Po Ai. “All of them have been handed over to Sri Aman Immigration office for further action,” he said.



Mathew said the case is being investigated under Immigration Act 1959/63..
