
JOHOR BARU: The General Operations Force believes it has dismantled a smuggling syndicate involved in the storage and sale of contraband alcohol.This follows the seizure of 342 cartons of untaxed liquor of various brands, with an estimated total value of RM600,000, during a raid on a premises in Taman Daya here yesterday.Dubbed "Op Taring Alpha 2," the raid also led to the arrest of four foreigners, aged between 19 and 39, believed to be the caretakers and workers at the premises.
Johor Baru Selatan district police chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat said the suspects comprise three men and one woman from India, Bangladesh, and Indonesia."They have been remanded for seven days until March 20 to assist in the investigation," he said in a statement today.He said the case is being investigated under Section 135(1)(d) of the Customs Act 1967 and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for residing in Malaysia without valid documents.
