Police Women's Volleyball Club put Friday’s loss to Kenya Pipeline behind to sweep Omnisports Descartes in three sets (25-19, 25-19, 25-14) on Saturday, April 5, at Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, Nigeria. The win helped Christian Hatumimana’s side avoid early elimination on their debut appearance at African Volleyball Club debut. Police VC opened their first set aggressively, steadily collecting points to finish the set 25-19.
They then took the second set 25-19 and the third 25-14 as Club Omnisports Descartes failed to bounce back. The girls entered the tournament with high expectations after witnessing APR's initial win, which influenced our performance on the court. Today, we focused on securing all possible points.
My squad now has a better understanding of the tournament's pace, said Hatumimana after the victory. Earlier in the day, APR suffered their first loss against Cameroonian club, Maya Kane Evolution, 3-1 (25-18, 19-25, 21-25, 19-25). Volleyball matches continue on Sunday, April 6 with APR set to take on home club Nigeria Customs Service, while Police will face Litto Team Volleyball.
