The Crack Squad, which is part of the Area Command in Ughelli, Delta State, has arrested five individuals suspected of kidnapping at a brothel and criminal hideout in Ewu Community. These suspects were apprehended on September 12, 2024, around 1:30 am. During the operation, the police recovered a single barrel gun, three locally made cut-to-size guns, N450,000 in cash, a Moniepoint POS machine, an OPAY POS machine, and parcels of suspected Indian hemp from the suspects.

The arrested individuals are Dominic Uweru, also known as Ovwolo, aged 48; Isaac Oghenerukevwe, also known as Plug, aged 34; Oviri Godstime, aged 25; Junior Sunday; and Efedeki Adjovo. SP Bright Edafe, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, verified the information in an official statement signed and provided to reporters in Warri. He said: “They confessed to various armed robbery and kidnapping operations in Ughelli and its environs, including the kidnapping of a 70-year-old woman (name withheld) who they kidnapped on 08/09/2024 and collected a ransom of seven million, nine hundred thousand naira (N7,900,000) on 10/9/2024 before her release.



” According to Edafe, “The suspects are in custody and the investigation is ongoing.”.
