POKÉMON has been ramping up its events and distributions so more people can grab rare shiny legendaries and mythicals. The company recently announced that those with a complete Scarlet and Violet dex in Pokémon Home can grab a never-before-released shiny Meloetta . Scarlet and Violet players will soon be able to grab a number of legendary Pokémon but it won’t be easy.
The first announcement is a distribution event for three mythical Pokémon, though this is a Japan-only event. Players in Japan will be able to grab Keldeo, Zarude and Deoxys via the Mythical Pokémon Get campaign. The way the distribution will work, either online or in-person, has not been revealed yet.
However, we do know that the campaign will run between November 22, 2024, and April 30, 2025. Even if you’re not visiting Japan, there is a rare shiny legendary Pokémon that everyone will be able to grab. Shiny Rayquaza will be available in a Tera Raid Battle event from December 20, 2024, until January 6, 2025.
This will be an online event and available to players around the globe. Details for this event will be revealed at a later date, but we expect this to be a super difficult raid similar to the Mewtwo raids from last year. There were special events to help us prepare for the Mewtwo event, so this is another possibility.
We are excited that The Pokémon Company is loosening its grip on legendary Pokémon, and in particular, on shiny legendary and mythical Pokémon. Many of these Pokémon, and in particular shiny versions, were locked behind specific in-person distributions that were incredibly rare. Rarity always leads people to desperation when it comes to collecting these Pokémon.
This means that certain players have resorted to hacking, or worse, led them to fall for scams in the past. The more open Pokémon is with allowing people to grab this rare ‘mons legitimately, the less this will happen.
