Nintendo and the Pokémon Company have announced their next big game project called Pokémon Champions, and it’s going to be one of those games that attempts to play the nostalgia angle. It’ll do this primarily by tapping into Pokémon Home. The Pokémon Company and Nintendo announced this feature quite a few years ago, and it essentially allows you to store and manage your Pokémon across games and devices.
The games you want to transfer your Pokémon between have to be compatible, so there is a caveat. Pokémon Champions will be one such game, and that should drive up some interest from fans who have played and enjoyed some of the more recent Pokémon games since Pokémon Home was first launched. There aren’t a ton of details about the game just yet, but it was announced as part of the Pokémon Presents live stream that happened on the morning of February 27.
The Pokémon Company has not announced a release date for Pokémon ChampionsUnsurprisingly, there isn’t a release date that’s been announced for this game yet. The Pokémon Company says the game is currently in development. That means it’s probably still going to be a while before the game is released and playable.
The good news is that there has been some information shared about the game. It revolves around battles, though there is still potential for there to be a story element involved. It’s also going to be released for both mobile and Nintendo Switch.
For mobile, it will be available for both Android and iOS. Pokémon Champions is being developed by The Pokémon Works in collaboration with Game Freak. Game Freak has made several different Pokémon games over the years.
It’s unclear if the game supports crossplay and cross progressionWhat isn’t mentioned specifically is whether or not this game will support crossplay and cross progression. That being said, with Pokémon Home being a core feature of this game, chances are you will be able to play across both Switch and mobile platforms. It also seems likely that crossplay will be enabled, though this is merely speculation for now.
It’s also been mentioned that this will be available for the “Switch family of systems.” This obviously means the Switch, Switch Lite, and Switch OLED. What isn’t made clear is whether or not this includes the Nintendo Switch 2.
Given that it’s in development now, we’d bet on that being a yes. The Switch 2 is supposed to launch this year and will probably be out before this game. The post Pokémon Champions will let you import Pokémon from old games appeared first on Android Headlines.
