EMMANUEL Pokana steered Kina Bank Gunners to a seven wicket win over Internal Revenue Com-mission Taxes in the Port Moresby cricket association Mix T10 outdoor pool B match last Saturday. Pokana’s effort in both fielding and batting also saw him claiming the man-of-the-match. The match itself was quite nerve-wrecking for both teams.
He pulled off a superb catch at deep mid-wicket to dismiss IRC’s Clive Douglas Elly at the completion of the 7.5 overs off Rose Agi’s bowling. His (Pokana) catching effort disrupted Elly’s batting momentum after he (Elly) was just starting to find his batting rhythm.
IRC finish off on 8/62. Pokana gave IRC the early fielding headaches when he and Oala Dikana stepped onto the crease as Kina Bank Gunners opening batters. In facing IRC’s Nane Tamata’Ane Amona second delivery to him, Pokana belted the hit over the boundary.
Pokana went on to retire for 34 runs (four 6s, one 4s) off just 7 balls. Lending a helping hand upon to guide Kina Bank to victory was Joseph Agi and Arua Dikana before Pala Leka and Cassien Pere had the last say with the remaining winning runs. Kina Bank finished at 3/67.
