Podeli : Serbian Prime Minister Milos Vucevic said Wednesday that he finds the demands of protesting students unclear, adding that even if the current government were to fall, his Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) would simply form a new one due to their parliamentary majority. Even in that scenario, someone else from the SNS would lead the government instead of me, Vucevic told K1 TV. “I don’t have the impression that the students want to engage in dialogue.
They want their demands met, but I haven’t seen any genuine requests for dialogue from the students. The government is open to talks, but they need to happen in a democratic and constructive atmosphere, not under unproductive circumstances,” he said. Addressing students’ demands for the publication of the documentation on the reconstruction of the Novi Sad train station, Vucevic explained that these documents are currently with the prosecutor’s office.
“I’m surprised that our colleagues from the Law Faculty aren’t aware of this,” he added. Regarding political accountability, the prime minister pointed out that the entire ministry responsible for this issue has already been completely restructured. Regarding the demand for criminal and legal responsibility, he said the prosecutor’s office launched an investigation in a very short time, and that 13 people are in custody.
Now we are hearing demands for criminal and legal responsibility again, but it already exists, said Vucevic, commenting on his own name appearing on the list. “It needs to be clearly said that they want to topple the entire government and transfer powers to the Serbian president. However, this would not satisfy them, because they don’t just want the government to fall, they want a complete takeover of power.
Even that scenario would not satisfy them, although it will not happen,” said Vucevic..
