On the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled India’s first vertical lift sea bridge, the modernized Pamban Bridge, in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu. The state-of-the-art 2.08-kilometer structure, constructed at a cost of ₹550 crore, connects Rameswaram to mainland India, making it a crucial link for pilgrims and traders.

The bridge boasts an innovative 72.5-meter vertical lift span that facilitates uninterrupted rail operations while allowing large ships to pass through. It includes advanced stainless steel reinforcements, dual rail track readiness, and protective marine coatings, ensuring enhanced durability.

Built to replace the historic original bridge erected in 1914, the new Pamban Bridge reflects a seamless blend of modern engineering and cultural significance. Executed by Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), this landmark project faced challenges including rough waters and high winds at the Palk Strait. Alongside the inauguration, PM Modi flagged off the Rameswaram-Tambaram train service and laid the foundation for ₹8,300 crore worth of regional road and rail projects.

The Pamban Bridge stands as a testament to India’s engineering prowess, offering a promising future for connectivity and tourism in the region. The post PM Modi Unveils India’s First Vertical Lift Sea Bridge in Tamil Nadu appeared first on Pragativadi I Latest Odisha News in English I Breaking News ..
