PM Modi Meets 15 Tech CEOs In US; Here’s What He Told Google’s Sundar Pichai: Watch

India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a whirlwind of a three-day American tour ahead of the country’s presidential election. The Indian premier met with top 15 tech CEOs from companies like Google, Adobe, and Nvidia, hosted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) School of Engineering. The roundtable was held at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel.

While the PM posted about the same on his social media, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) released a statement that the CEOs had a deep dive with the Prime Minister on evolving technological advances and how they are shaping the lives of people globally and especially the people of India. During the roundtable, the PM emphasized on the ‘AI for All’ policy of India. Had a fruitful roundtable with tech CEOs in New York, discussing aspects relating to technology, innovation and more.

Pichai remarked that the search engine giant is robustly investing in India and looking forward to doing more for the country with several programs and partnerships.

He quipped that PM Modi has now challenged the tech CEOs to do the same with AI for India. Speaking of the Digital India and Make In India initiative of the PM, the Google CEO remarked that “He pushed us to continue making in India, designing in India.” Google recently started assembling its flagship, the Pixel 8, in the country via its vendor, Wowtek Technology India, a subsidiary of Bharat FIH, which is a part of Chinese company Hon Hai Technology Group, also known as Foxconn, that has its assembling unit at Tamil Nadu.

Meanwhile, it was also reported in May 2024, that Dixon Technologies will manufacture Google Pixel 8.
