Rom Valley Gardens in Rom Valley Way has been spotted in an industrial listing on Zoopla. Spanning more than 300,000 square feet and encompassing the site of the former Romford Ice Arena, the plot listing is for a non-quoting sale. According to details of the listing, it poses as a "development opportunity potential for industrial/commercial development, subject to planning".
Agent Strettons Commercial & Industrial Agency wrote: "Planning consent for 972 dwellings medical centre, retail, café and amenity facilities. The plot of land was once the site of the former Romford Ice Rink (Image: Strettons) "Indicative scheme prepared compromising seven blocks ranging from 2-12 storeys in height. "Highly flexible design allowing for multiple phasing solutions.
" A planning application proposing for site to be redeveloped into more than 970 new homes across seven flat blocks ranging between two and 12 stories in height was approved by the council in September 2023. Not only did the development include hundreds of new homes, it also included plans for retail and a restaurant unit, as well as a medical and neighbourhood centre. A spokesperson for Havering Council has confirmed that "planning permission is still in place", however it is unclear if the project is still being undertaken by Impact Developments. We contacted the developer for a comment but did not receive a response..
