PS4 players will occasionally get a new release Sony has announced that its PlayStation Plus service will be “shifting focus” to PS5 games after this year. READ MORE: The biggest and most exciting video games coming out in 2025 PlayStation Plus is a subscription-based service that gives members access to a rotating library of titles, spread across three tiers – Essential, Extra and Premium. Currently both PlayStation 5 and PS4 users can benefit from the service but Sony is set to change that in the coming months.

“As many of our players are currently playing on PS5 and have shifted toward redeeming and accessing PS5 titles from the Monthly Games and Game Catalog benefit, PlayStation Plus is also evolving with this trend and will focus on offering PS5 titles through the Monthly Games and Game Catalog benefit starting January 2026,” read the official announcement . “As we shift to PS5, PS4 games will no longer be a key benefit and will only be occasionally offered for PlayStation Plus Monthly Games and Game Catalog starting January 2026. We may still provide titles that can be playable on both PS4 and PS5 consoles after this date.

com/qU0tHnMUF5 — PlayStation (@PlayStation) January 29, 2025 Sony went on to explain that already redeemed PS4 games won’t be affected by the changes “as long as you remain a member” of PlayStation Plus. “We’ll continue to evolve the experience of PlayStation Plus and optimise the benefits you receive, including exclusive discounts, online multiplayer access, online game save storage and more,” Sony promised. “As we shift our focus to PS5, we look forward to adding new PS5 titles monthly for you to enjoy.

” Late last year, Sony announced the PlayStation 5 Pro as a mid-cycle upgrade to its current-gen console. Player’s weren’t happy about the £699.99 price tag on the digital-only console though, even if it did offer them “ most advanced and innovative console hardware to date ”.

It’s expected that the PlayStation 6 will be released in 2027. The full list of games coming to PS Plus in February can be found here . In other news, it’s been reported that Fortnite fans spent more than 30million hours playing the game on Christmas Day.
