’Playful’ hotel brand to open in Belfast after £8m acquisition and refurbishment

Irish company MHL Hotel Collection has announced its first Belfast property will open in July, following the acquisition of a city centre venue.

The 179-bedroomed Moxy Belfast City is to open over the second half of July on the former site of the Park Inn by Radisson on Clarence Street West. MHL Collection announced it had appointed Gemma Connor as general manager of the venue, which it has acquired and refurbished in an £8m project.

Ms Connor is the former general manager of Corick House Hotel & Spa in Clogher Valley, Co Tyrone. She has also worked in hotels in Belfast and London, including roles with Hilton Hotels. Ms Connor, who is from Ballymena, said: “I am excited to have joined the MHL Hotel Collection as we prepare to launch our first hotel in Northern Ireland.



"Belfast is such an incredible city, and it’s an honour to be part of bringing an internationally recognised brand, to the city centre. “Moxy by Marriott is a fun, playful, and contemporary brand, and I cannot wait to introduce the hotel to both locals and international visitors alike.” She said the hotel is also recruiting for positions including bar and restaurant staff, reception, housekeeping, and management.

it’s expected the hotel will employ a total of 60 people. Paul Higgins, partner at MHL Hotel Collection, who is from Warrenpoint in Co Down, said: “We are delighted to appoint Gemma as general manager of the Moxy Belfast City. We are eagerly anticipating the opening of the Moxy Belfast City this summer.
