Plans have been revealed to build a new residential building in Hull. An application for the construction of a 27-home block at Newstar Sectional Buildings in Beverley Road has been submitted to Hull City Council. The 'L-shaped' building would contain a range of properties from three-bedroom homes to studio apartments, including 'affordable' housing units.

The proposals claim the "affordable housing is well-integrated so there is no discernible difference between market and affordable dwellings". Currently, the site, at the corner of Beverley Road and Ash Grove, is home to the garden shed and greenhouse supplier Newstar Sectional Buildings, which is the applicant for the residential plan. The existing workshop building would be demolished.

According to the planning application submitted to the Council, "the appearance of the site in its current form is poor and is at odds with the surrounding built form." The developers' plans seek to improve upon the appearance with their proposals which "have a distinctive character and create a strong sense of place". Hull City Council will now decide if the application is to be successful.
