Plans for a new 'community hub' and sports field in Brandesburton have been submitted to East Riding Council . The application details plans for the erection of a single-storey pavilion building and the construction of a multi-use games area (MUGA) on the land off Catwick Lane, to the south east of the Brandesburton roundabout. The application, which has been submitted on behalf of Brandesburton Football Club and Brandesburton Social Club, states that the proposed pavilion would provide a number of facilities, including: Two sports changing rooms for both male and female players Showers and toilets to serve the changing rooms A kitchen to serve the community space and outside areas Ancillary spaces including a cleaner’s store, general storage, bin storage and a plant room A multi functional community space.
The new MUGA would be enclosed by a near-3m high perimeter fence, which documents submitted to the council suggest would be 'forest green' in colour. The MUGA would be serviced by six 8.2m tall floodlights.
The lights, documents state, would "point directly over the pitch only in order to prevent harmful light spread". The MUGA would be available to use between 9am and 10pm each day. It is said that the facilities could be used for a range of activities, therefore benefitting a variety of groups and individuals.
A large number of possible activities are listed in documents submitted to the council, these include: Mother and baby groups Quiz and social evenings Children’s activities and camps Disability and SEN sports Exercise classes. The application includes provision for a total of 56 parking spaces. The plans seek to add 24 spaces to the 32 spaces that the site can currently accommodate.
Entry to the site would be via an existing access point on Catwick Lane, opposite the road from Brandesburton Parish Hall. This proposals are a revised version of an application that was granted planning permission by East Riding Council in April 2022 that simply suggested building the MUGA and the sports pavilion for sporting facilities whereas these plans aim to create a 'community hub' which can be used to a variety of uses.
