"The demand for our services continues to grow and this new centre will enable us to better serve our Bournemouth and Dorset communities."

Wessex Cancer Support intends to transform the former Lovett estate agent building in Boscombe into a hub of assistance for those battling cancer. The Christchurch Road premises will house therapy and counselling rooms, an activity studio and office space. Rachel Billsberry-Grass, CEO of Wessex Cancer Support, said: "We’ve had a centre in Bournemouth for nearly ten years but we have outgrown our current site.

"The demand for our services continues to grow and this new centre will enable us to better serve our Bournemouth and Dorset communities." The charity has launched a £150,000 fundraising appeal to refurbish the site and cover running costs for the first year. Work is set to start imminently with the aim of opening the centre this summer.

Among the visitors at the recent drop-in event was Bournemouth East MP Tom Hayes, who has offered his support. Mr Hayes said: "It was a pleasure to attend the open evening of Wessex Cancer Support’s new centre in Boscombe. "It will make an enormous difference to people navigating cancer – offering a safe, welcoming space and the kind of compassionate care that helps people feel less alone.
