Plans for a nail bar and café have been given the go ahead. Brighton and Hove City Council has approved Bahai Original Ltd’s application for the change of use of a building in St James’s Street in Brighton to a nail bar serving cold food called Laca. Internal alterations will be made to the property, including the installations of a manicure and pedicure area, a coffee bar, a waiting area and reception.
The planning statement reads: “St James's Street is a busy retail pitch to the east of the city centre. READ MORE: Decision made on new bid for five-storey building next to railway station “This is a high footfall area with nearby occupiers including restaurants, coffee shops, estate agents and various independent retailers thus making it a popular destination for both locals and tourists. “The proposed development seeks to enhance the site's utilisation by providing a mixed-use development that will contribute to the vitality and diversity of the local area.
” The retail unit was previously used by Werks, a space for craft makers to use communally. The basement area will be used as a staff room for employees..
