If you pass on Ohio State quarterback Will Howard , he will make it his mission to prove that you made the wrong choice. The National Champion quarterback and Pittsburgh Steelers target said in an interview posted to the NFL Media account on Monday that his recruiting story coming out of high school has put a chip on his shoulder. Howard did not get offers from top schools in the area, but Kansas State saw something in him.
He rewarded them and eventually became a National Champion with the Buckeyes. Yet, Howard wants to do the same thing in the NFL for the team that takes a chance on him. "I’m going to make it my mission to make sure they regret not picking me," Howard said .
The Steelers met with Howard at the NFL Combine and have shown an interest in the quarterback position, specifically around the third or fourth round throughout the cycle. All of the brass took Howard out to dinner, along with running backs Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson. Howard said that meeting went well.
“Yeah, it’s been really good with them,” Howard said “I spent some time with them yesterday, with Coach Tomlin and Coach Smith. It’s really good. I really like those guys.
It’s close to home for me. It’s close to here. There’s a lot of things to like about it.
You never know. Anything can happen. It’s definitely a great spot.
They all are.” Howard transferred into Columbus from Kansas State, where he was a multiple-year starter. During his season, the Buckeyes were an up-and-down offense, but became an elite unit once Howard’s play took a significant leap in the College Football Playoff.
