Pittsburgh Opera is set to present the verismo double bill “Cavalleria Rusticana” and “Pagliacci.” The operas, which showcase possessiveness, machismo, and jealousy, will be performed on Nov. 9, 12, 15, and 17, 2024.

Mascagni’s opera, which takes place on Easter Sunday, will star Eve Gigliotti as Santuzza, Sebastian Catana as Alfio, Audrey Welsh as Lola, Rafael Davila as Turiddu, and Marianne Cornetti as Mamma Lucia. This will be the first time Pittsburgh Opera has performed this back-to-back double feature since 1996. Leonvallo’s masterpiece will star Jonathan Burton as Canio, Caitlin Gottimer as Nedda, Fran Daniel Laucerica as Beppe, Sebastian Catana as Tonio, and Ricardo Jose Rivera as Silvio.

Antony Walker conducts the production by Daniel Rigazzi . Performances will be held at the Benedum Center, at the corner of 7th Street and Penn Ave, downtown Pittsburgh. Categories.
