Pune: A pillion rider died on the spot while a biker was injured after a truck hit their motorcycle at Sati village in Kadamvak Vasti on the Pune-Solapur highway around 6pm on Sept 14. The Loni Kalbhor police have identified the deceased as Sartak Baheti (19), a resident of Kadamvak Vasti. The injured biker, Mohan Mahadik (18), also from Kadamvak Vasti, suffered injuries to his hands and leg.
The police said Baheti and Mahadik, riding on a motorcycle, were heading home when a truck driver lost control of the vehicle and hit the two-wheeler. Baheti succumbed to his injuries while his friend Mahadik escaped with injuries. Baheti's post-mortem was done in the Sassoon General Hospital.
A notice was served on the truck driver, asking him to join the police in the investigation. Police have impounded the truck for RTO inspection. The police have filed a case of rash and negligent driving causing death and injury against the truck driver under the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Motor Vehicles Act.
