Northern Ireland goalkeeper Pierce Charles attracting interest from top Premier League sides

Pierce Charles' stock continues as the Northern Ireland international is attracting interest from a Champions League-bound club. The Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper has burst onto the international scene for Michael O'Neill's side making his debut in last year's Nations League group games. Charles has moved on to six caps for his country after playing in last month's friendlies against Switzerland and Sweden as O'Neill continues to back the 19-year-old.

The teenager's international debut came six month's before his Championship debut as Wednesday boss Danny Rohl handed him a start in last Saturday's 1-1 draw with Cardiff City. Charles was linked to a move away from Hillsborough in January with Aston Villa and Liverpool two of the clubs reportedly monitoring his progress. The Owls staved off any interest then but they may struggle to keep the player long term with the Sheffield Star reporting the club are bracing themselves for bids for the 'keeper come the end of the season.

Representatives of several Premier League clubs are reported to have watched Charles during the friendlies in the international window in March. It's unclear where Charles long-term future may lie but the young stopper will be hoping he can add to his club appearances between now and the end of the season.
