The Pendle Dark Dash, when runners dash across Pendle Hill while wearing head torches in the dark, took place at the end of March and the funds raised for the Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue can now been revealed. More than 143 runners took on the eight-kilometre route. The first runner took just 44 minutes to complete it, and £1,937 was raised for the mountain rescue charity.
A spokesperson for Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue said: “The Pendle Dark Dash fell race is an annual fundraiser for the team, and is kindly sponsored by Sports Shoes. "With great weather,143 intrepid runners tackled the tough eight-kilometre route across the top of Pendle in the dark. “The first runner back only took an incredible 44 minutes, but those behind enjoyed the run just as much and had more time to appreciate the skyscape.
“This year's event at the end of March raised an amazing £1,937.00 of vital funds for the team! “We'd like to thank everyone for your continued support of our charity, and also thanks to the team volunteers who turned out in force after a very busy few days on callouts. “A donation from Barley Parish Council was much appreciated, along with the villagers for hosting yet another event.
