An outdoor photography exhibition on a public wall has opened in Paphos where it will remain on display for 11 months. The exhibition’s title is fittingly, The Wall, and it is organised by the Paphos branch of the Cyprus Photographic Society at Agios Kendeas Square. President of the Paphos CPS Thanos Savvides emphasised that the Photomarathon aims to foster social participation and bring the art of photography to a wider audience.

He described the Photomarathon as “a challenge for those involved in photography and for others who may not have direct contact with the art but wish to engage with it, even occasionally.” Savvides added that The Wall is one of the Paphos CPS’ international initiatives, which, over the past eight years, has successfully promoted Paphos abroad while simultaneously presenting contemporary international photography in the city. The primary aim of the exhibition-installation is to transform a public open space into an exhibition venue and to bring photography closer to the public, away from traditional exhibition spaces.

This year’s competition tasked participants with capturing four themes within four hours. Following an open call, photographers from Cyprus and abroad submitted works on the themes of Urban Environment or Street Photography. The top 30 photographs are displayed on the wall.

This year’s exhibition features entries from 15 countries, with photographers from Cyprus, Greece, the USA, Finland, Slovakia, the Philippines, Australia, France, Germany, Poland, and the UK represented in the outdoor installation. The Wall Outdoor photography exhibition-installation, selected through a photomarathon. Until November 2025.
