One of the trends we like this year for phones is the emergence of silicon-carbon tech, which allow brands to pack higher-capacity batteries without making phones thicker. Not all phones are created equal, as other factors like software optimization play an important role in maximizing the added capacity silicon-carbon batteries have to offer. As we enter the second quarter of 2025, we round up the phones with the best battery life based on benchmark tests done using PCMark.
It’s impressive to see two phones not using silicon-carbon tech make it to our top 5 list, and we’re blown to see a midrange phone offer battery life that exceeds 24 hours.Phones with the Best Battery Life (Q1 2025)OnePlus 13RNothing Phone 3aASUS ROG Phone 9 Provivo V50vivo V50 Lite 5GOnePlus 13R – 18 hours 7 minutesWe can’t emphasize enough why we love the OnePlus 13R: it has a decent price for a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, a very usable telephoto camera, and a 6000mAh silicon-carbon battery that delivers. Without any underclocking involved, we got over 18 hours of battery life with the OnePlus 13R’s 6000mAh cell, making it all the more impressive as a flagship killer.
You get 80w charging to top up that battery as fast as possible, and you won’t expect the OnePlus 13R to pack a big battery inside with its 8mm thickness. Nothing Phone 3a – 19 hours 34 minutesThe fact that the Phone 3a was able to get a battery life of 19.5 hours without any new tech–just your familiar 5000mAh cell–made us all the more impressed with the battery management of Nothing OS.
The impressive battery life from the Phone 3a is proof that software optimization can go a long way: silicon-carbon tech is relatively new, and it will take a while for brands to make good use of longer battery life. Charging speeds are also decent at 50w–it may not be blazing fast, but it is good enough to top up the Phone 3a’s cell as fast as possible. ASUS ROG Phone 9 Pro – 20 hours 24 minutesWhile it does not use a silicon-carbon battery like the rest of the phones in this list, the ROG Phone 9 Pro’s 5800mAh battery impressed us with a battery life of over 20 hours–AND that’s despite rocking the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chip inside.
Granted that ASUS was able to achieve it by intentionally underclocking the processor (the actual speeds are only enabled when using X-Mode), that’s a solid battery life for a flagship phone that has a display that has a refresh rate that goes up to 185hz. vivo V50 – 21 hours 12 minutesvivo’s V series phones are consistent in terms of delivering excellent battery life, and the V50 takes it further with a 6000mAh battery that’s bigger than what its predecessor has to offer–all while not adding any thickness to its body. The result? A battery life of over 21 hours, which is the best we’ve seen on an upper midrange phone to date.
You also get faster 90w charging speeds, and vivo also made the V50 compatible with up to 50w USB-PD for more fast charging options–a great combo indeed. vivo V50 Lite 5G – 26 hours 11 minutesOur review for the V50 Lite 5G is ongoing, but what we can share is that it has the most insane battery life we’ve seen on a phone in 2025: armed with a huge 6500mAh battery, a power-efficient Dimensity 6300 processor, and FunTouch’s solid reputation for battery management, the V50 Lite 5G lasted over 26 hours, which easily translates to two days of use on a full charge. To make it even better, vivo equipped it with 90w charging, so topping up that huge battery is quick.
That rounds up the phones with the best battery life for 2025 so far. Which one will you get? Or will you wait for future models to flex their insane battery life?.
