PH up for 7 awards in the 2025 World Travel Awards

The Philippines looks to defend several titles in the WTA this year.

The Philippines continues to make a mark in the global tourism sphere as it once again received multiple nominations from the World Travel Awards (WTA).The Department of Tourism (DOT) said the country is eyeing seven awards in this year's edition of WTA, which is considered the Oscars of the travel industry.The Philippines looks to defend its title as Asia's Leading Beach Destination, Asia's Leading Dive Destination, and Asia's Leading Island Destination.

The country has been named Asia's Leading Dive Destination since 2019 and was named Asia's Leading Beach Destination and Asia's Leading Island Destination in 2024.The popular island of Boracay is nominated anew as Asia's Leading Luxury Island Destination, a title it also secured last year.The walled city of Intramuros, meanwhile, looks to defend its title as Asia's Leading Tourist Attraction, as well as Cebu as Asia's Leading Wedding Destination.



Both Intramuros and Cebu bagged the same awards in 2024. The Tourism Department is also up for Asia's Leading Tourist Board award at the 2025 WTA.Voting for this year's WTA is open until August 31, 2025 on its website.
