(INQUIRER FILE PHOTO) MANILA – The Philippine General Hospital (PGH) is set to improve its medical services and serve more Filipinos with the addition of more personnel, Malacañang said Tuesday. PGH, the country’s premiere government hospital, is set to receive a major staffing boost with 1,200 additional positions approved by the Department of Budget and Management. The move, according to Palace Press Officer Claire Castro, is the government’s response to the PGH’s request to enhance its organizational and manpower capacity in order to deliver quality and affordable healthcare services.
“Alam naman po natin na napakarami pong mga Pilipino ang talagang pumupunta sa PGH dahil po ito’y nakakapagbigay ng magandang serbisyo at maaari pong napakaliit na kanilang babayaran kapag po sila ay pumunta sa PGH (We know that many Filipinos actually go to PGH because it provides good and affordable services),” Castro said, emphasizing the hospital’s crucial role in providing accessible healthcare. She explained that the decision to expand the hospital’s staff was made to improve patient care and ensure quicker medical attention for those seeking treatment. The creation of additional positions will be pursued in four tranches, starting in the first quarter of 2025, the fourth quarter of 2025, and in 2026 and 2027.
