Vadodara: A provident fund (PF) inspector was caught by the anti-corruption bureau (ACB) in the city on Monday, allegedly taking a Rs 40,000 bribe. Binodkumar Sharma , who works as an enforcement officer, was allegedly apprehended red-handed while accepting the money from the complainant. The complainant runs a facilities management business and was depositing the PF contributions for his employees online.

Sharma sent an email with a spot memo to the complainant and asked him for some documents. When the complainant went to meet Sharma, he said the deadline to submit the documents had passed. Sharma then demanded Rs 50,000 to not take action.

After negotiations, the amount was settled at Rs 40,000. The complainant then approached the ACB and filed a complaint against Sharma. A trap was set by the ACB to catch Sharma accepting the bribe.
