Cam Peupion scored for the third successive game as Albion under-21s won away. The Australian wideman got into a central area to turn home a low cross in the 1-0 success at Wealdstone. Victory in the final group fixture in the National League Cup keeps alive hopes of progress as they await the final games elsewhere.

They rounded off their campaign with a positive display which should have brought more goals. Peupion is widely expected to secure an EFL loan move this month. He converted a low cross by the dangerous Marcus Ifill, who had been sent away down the left midway through the second half.

Ifill and Josh Duffus both had one-on-ones in an impressive second half by the visitors and were both denied by the goalkeeper. Caylan Vickers curled a super effort against the far post after cutting inside. A tempting cross by Harry Howell should have been turned home by one of three unmarked players in the box.

Wealdstone thought they had gone ahead when he hooked home a superb finish by Micah Obiero but he was adjudged offside, which looked a close call. Albion ’s new professional development phase coach Jason McCarthy watched the game after joining the club from Wycombe. Albion: Fisher, Penman, Turns, F.
