Peter Andre has opened up about feeling "really upset" when his plans for son Theo's eighth birthday were disrupted. Writing in his New! Magazine column, the 51 year old pop star shared how a series of unfortunate events at the airport botched the day's celebrations as he made his way home from an overseas shoot. Peter, father to Theo, Amelia, ten, and eight-month-old Arabella with wife Emily , as well as Junior, 19, and Princess, 17, with ex Katie Price , could not hide his parenting woes as he recounted missing the start of Theo's special day.
His misadventures continued when he became ill and faced flight delays and cancellations. In a stroke of luck Pete finally boarded a plane, and despite Gatwick Airport being closed temporarily due to a security scare while they were airborne, it reopened just in time for him to land safely. Pete wrote: "I'd been filming a new TV drama abroad and was due to fly home last week for Theo's eighth birthday.
I planned to go the night before so I could get up in the morning and give him his gifts, before a show in Blackpool in the evening. But, first, I became very unwell, then my flight got delayed – before being cancelled. "When I did finally get on another flight the next day, Gatwick was shut down while we were in the air because of a suspected package, which meant we were about to be diverted.
Thankfully, it reopened 10 minutes before we were due to land and thankfully no one in the terminal was hurt so everything was okay." Continuing, Pete admitted he was feeling down due to the delays, despite making it in the end. He said: "But I missed Theo's birthday morning when he opened his presents, which I was really upset about, and I was feeling really unwell so I couldn't do my gig, so apologies for that.
It was one of those days where everything goes wrong, but I did eventually get home and surprised Theo – he was so happy and I made him his favourite meal so at least we had that!" Marking Theo's birthday, Emily shared a sweet post to Instagram as she wrote: "My gorgeous boy is 8 today. I actually can’t believe where the time has gone! Theo you are the kindest and loveliest boy we could ever ask for. Love you so much and happy birthday".
