1 2 Prayagraj: In Chowk area of Prayagraj locals from different communities showered flower petals on Muslims heading for the Alvida prayers on Friday. The special prayers held on the last Friday of Ramzan month passed off peacefully in Sangam city with the administration rolling out an elaborate security plan . Police held peace committee meetings at the thana level and also interacted with religious heads for peaceful prayers.
Police also used drones, and a network of CCTV sets to maintain a strict watch throughout the day. A strict eye was also maintained on social media as well. People assembled in large numbers in different mosques and offered prayers.
The largest congregation was witnessed at Jama Masjid in the Chowk area of the city. Despite a large number of devotees arriving at the mosque, everyone offered prayers inside the mosque premises in two sessions. A large posse of cops was deployed outside the mosque located opposite the Kotwali police station.
