With the Rainford family farming vegetables and cereals at Catchdale Moss Farm for more than 150 years, Richard Rainford started to utilise the land to sell a handful of Christmas trees after leaving school in the 1970s. Although this idea began as a way to make a bit of extra cash at Christmastime, it has since taken on a life of its own with 'Rainford's Christmas Trees' going on to sell tens of thousands of trees to families, businesses, and councils over the years - while many now visit the farm for an "experience of Christmas".
