Surat: Thousands of citizens joined various events organised in the city to pay homage to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack , on Friday. Major industries and markets in the city also held events to express their solidarity with the families of the deceased. Various organisations within the diamond industry held an event to pay homage in Varachha.
Diamond unit owners, traders, and employees joined the event. They offered flowers in front of a poster with photos of those who died in the incident. At diamond manufacturing and trading units, employees observed silence for two minutes and paid homage to the deceased.
Homage was paid through silence at Surat Diamond Bourse, Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council, Surat Diamond Association, Surat Hira Bourse, Surat Jewellery Manufacturers Associations, Mahidharpura, and Mini Bazaar diamond markets. In the textile market, a candle march was organised on Ring Road. Textile traders and employees joined the rally with candles in their hands.
The rally was organised under the leadership of the Federation of Surat Trade and Textile Associations. The participants held banners paying homage to the victims of the attack. Various social service organisations also held events to pay homage to the victims and their families across the city.
