The eight-bedroom student house is in a prime city centre location and appears normal at first - but one strange thing is catching people off-guard

A student house in Nottingham on the market for more than £300k has got hundreds of social media users talking after they spotted something unexpected. On Monday, March 3, auctioneers at Auction Estates listed an eight-bedroom student property in the Arboretum city centre area . The semi-detached house, on 19 Gedling Grove, caught the attention of Housing Horrors – a TikTok page showcasing strange homes – thanks to a unexpected sighting in the corner of one of the photos used on the Rightmove listing.

In a picture of one of the house's eight bedrooms, it appears a tenant can be seen lying in bed awake on their phone. In a TikTok tour video displaying the Rightmove ad , the social media user is shocked by the sighting and comments: "This is the bedroom but upon first glance you might not notice anything - but when I zoomed in, I nearly spat out my tea. "How is there a girl on her phone in bed and the estate agent is taking photos of them? Either this girl is hungover or the estate agents have turned up at seven in the morning but either way, this is definitely an invasion of privacy.

" While this specific photo appears to have since been removed from the original listing, it can be seen on the video, in which the narrator goes on to show further photos of the bedrooms. He suggests all tenants may have been forced out of their beds by the photographer in order to take the pictures. The TikTok video amassed 1,400,000 views, 33,600 likes, and nearly 450 comments, with people sharing similar stories and experiences.

"I got shown around a student house once and there was a guy in bed - I don’t think they warn them at all and the landlord just lets them in," one user said. Another added: "I’m guessing the landlord gave them a heads up. They didn’t care or even tidy up a bit.

Landlord had to carry on with their day so prob just took pics." While one user simply put: "Only in Nottingham". The three-storey property is in a prime city centre location popular with students and a short walk from Nottingham Trent University .

It will go up auction on Thursday, April 17 at the Trent Bridge Cricket Ground with a starting price of £365,000. Auction Estates were approached for comment..
