Property taxes are coming due. The Pennington County Treasurer’s Office said Wednesday it is on the final two days of collection of on-time property taxes. Treasurer Annette Brant issued a reminder, "in this busy season of elections, to not forget" the midnight Oct.

31 deadline for property taxes in South Dakota to avoid interest and penalties. The “Property Taxes” drop box will be open for payments 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week in the County Administration Building at 130 Kansas City St. in Rapid City.



Annette Brant courtesy The drop box is located inside the main entrance next to the brightly colored motor vehicle self-service terminal on the Kansas City Street side of the building clearly marked “Property Taxes." Only property tax payments will be accepted in this manner, the office said. Payments being dropped off should include the Tax ID No.

(s) you are paying for and have your current phone number on the payment. Receipts will be mailed to those requesting a return receipt. The drop box will be accessible only through midnight on Thursday.

All payments made after that time will be subject to interest. Other methods of payment: Payments may be made in person during regular business hours (Monday through Thursday 7 a.m.

to 6 p.m.) at the County Administration Building.

Customers must sign into the new queuing system for assistance either through the website, on your phone or with assistance by the receptionist greeting you at the entrance to the office. For more details, sign in to pennco.org under the Department of the Treasurer.

Phone in payments must be made by 4:30 p.m. today or Thursday.

A convenience fee for this method of payment applies. Payments may be sent through the mail and must include the payment stubs for each Tax ID No.(s) Payment are to be made payable to the Pennington County Treasurer and mailed to PO Box 6160, Rapid City, SD 57709-6160.

Payments made through the mail must be postmarked no later than Oct. 31 to avoid interest. Payments sent to the county's old address on Saint Joseph Street or to our physical address may no longer be forwarded by USPS and could be returned to you.

Current remittance address has been on tax notices since 2018. Avoid late payments and update your records especially for those using online banking. Payments must be USPS Postmarked by October 31st and addressed to PO Box 6160 to avoid interest due.

Online payments may also be made at www.pennco.org through the Oct.
