The No. 3 Penn State Nittany Lions notched their first loss of the 2024 college football season on Saturday, falling to the No. 4 Ohio State Buckeyes in a highly-anticipated Big Ten rivalry game at Beaver Stadium.

James Franklin and the Nittany Lions fell with a 20-13 final score, furthering the program's recent struggles against the rival Buckeyes. Win or lose, Penn State players traditionally stay on the field for the Penn State Blue Band's postgame performance of the Alma Mater. But on Saturday, some Nittany Lions abandoned tradition and exited the field early.

twitter.com/ax8YfgJlge Loyal Penn State fans are not happy about this behavior. "Have stood by the team through all the ups and downs, for two decades.

But this is ridiculous. Embarrassing performance and even more embarrassing behavior. Man up and own the loss," one fan wrote.

"Zero push, got ran over. Completely outclassed. They should be embarrassed," another added.

"It’s easy to have good character when you win. You show your real character when you lose," another said. No discipline and no respect for the students who stuck by their side the entire game.

“You got to give Ohio State credit. They did a really good job today. We did some things that were good enough to win and other things we did not.

You can’t have the ball inside the five-yard line twice and come up with no points,” Franklin told reporters in his postgame press conference. The program will finish its 2024 regular season with matchups against Washington, Purdue, Minnesota and Maryland.
