Wrapping up the 2024 portion of their schedules, the Pella Christian basketball teams travel to Grand View Christian tonight for a non-conference doubleheader. Both Eagles squads are looking to get back in the win column before Christmas break, having fallen to Norwalk and Des Moines Christian in their last two games. The Thunder girls enter tonight’s matchup with a 3-4 overall record and are also hoping to get back in the win column after dropping their last three games against West Marshall, South Hamilton, and PCM.
The Grand View girls are led on the season by juniors Maiah Murphy and Morgan Pelham, with Murphy recording 13.1 points per game and Pelham averaging a double-double with 12.5 points and 12.

After missing the State Tournament last year for the first time since the 2019-2020 season, the Thunder boys are making a strong case to return to Wells Fargo Arena with a 6-0 start to the winter. The Grand View boys have won five of their six games by at least 29 points, with the lone win by a margin less than that coming in a three-point comeback victory over Pella last week.
The Thunder boys are led by senior Emiliano Barrentes and juniors Jameson Scharnberg and Brayden Hoben, who combine to score 54 of the team’s 74 points per game.
