Barcelona midfielder Pedri has shared his view on the early red card for the team against Monaco in the Champions League . Eric Garcia was handed his marching orders after 11 minutes for a last-man challenge after a poor pass out from goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen . Pedri did not really want to apportion blame and said it was a mix-up between the two players.

“It was a communication error between the two, it can happen, we have to move on and try to make sure it doesn’t happen again,” he told the media. “With one less player we have run three times as much and we have to recover, I’m sure that on Sunday we will be fine.” Pedri was also able to take some positives from the 2-1 defeat despite seeing Barca slip to a first loss of the season.

“Despite the early red card, I’m left with the fact that the team stood up to the challenge and created chances with ten players,” he added. “It’s not easy to play so many minutes with one less player and if you don’t win, it’s the worst game of the season, It’s not the way we wanted to start the Champions League, but the new format gives us seven games to turn it around.” Barcelona’s next game in the Champions League is at home to Swiss side Young Boys on Tuesday, October 1.
