Pedestrian dies following crash in County Mayo

Gardaí are urging any witnesses to the collision to come forward.

A man in his 60s has died following a road collision in Ballinrobe, County Mayo yesterday evening. Emergency services responded to reports of a crash involving a pedestrian and a car shortly after 6.30pm on Thursday.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after the Gardaí arrived. His body has been taken to Mayo General Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The scene has been closed to allow for a forensic investigation and local diversions are in place.



A man in his 30s was arrested in connection with the crash but has since been released without charge. Any witnesses to the collision - including motorists with dash cam footage - are being urged to come forward. Claremorris Garda Station can be contacted on 1800 666 111.
