PCMC approves Harit Setu project for sustainable mobility, to raise Rs 200 cr through green bonds

Pune: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation on Thursday approved its ambitious ‘ Harit Setu ' project in a standing committee meeting. The project is part of the civic body's initiative for sustainable mobility for which PCMC also has a plan to raise funds through green bonds . Several global agencies, including Bloomberg Philanthropies and the Global Designing Cities Initiative (GDCI), have also extended their support to the initiative and will be providing expert guidance to PCMC on the same.

The civic officials said that the project will be implemented on five roads in Pradhikaran area in the first phase. The roads were selected based on the need for development. "Harit Setu focuses on creating a modern road network adhering to international standards, designed to meet the needs of all citizens, including pedestrians, cyclists, and public transport users," a PCMC official said.



"The Harit Setu project is a game-changer for Pimpri Chinchwad. We are now ready to begin work on modernising our roads to make them safer, more accessible, and environmentally sustainable. This project reflects our commitment to creating a better quality of life for all citizens," municipal commissioner Shekhar Singh said.
